ADMISSION INFORMATION/GENERAL POLICY
As a private institution, Amberton University restricts admission.
Admission to Amberton is a privilege, not a right. Admission is granted
only when, in the judgment of University officials, the applicant
can benefit from our educational programs. As an upper division (junior/senior
level) and graduate institution uniquely designed for working adults,
the University does not accept applicants who seek or need the social
environment provided at traditional campuses. The University will
not allow
the enrollment of an individual who has failed to successfully prove
his/her academic ability and potential by attending another accredited
college or university. In essence, all students who enroll in Amberton
University are transfer students.
In dealing with working adults who have been away from the academic
environment for years, the University has learned through research
that admission tests have little value in predicting academic success.
Past academic performance (which is measurable), self-discipline
(which cannot be measured by the institution at the time of entry),
and work/social constraints (which are beyond the control of both
the institution and the applicant) are three major factors that will
contribute to the students' academic performance. The University
will measure the first factor, insist upon the second, and allow
the judgment of the applicant to prevail concerning the third. While
no admission examination is required of students, enrollment is limited
each semester. Admission is based upon a first come/first served
basis. See below for requirements. For the necessary enrollment and
application forms, please see the Registration page.
UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION
To be admitted unconditionally, the applicant must (1) be an English-speaking
citizen of the United States (or permanent resident), (2) be twenty-one
years of age or older, and (3) have successfully completed academic
work from an American, accredited college or university. An applicant
may apply in person, by mail, or by fax.
GRADUATE ADMISSION
In order to be admitted into Amberton University's graduate school,
the applicant must (1) be an English-speaking citizen of the United
States (or permanent resident), (2) be twenty-one years of age or
older, and (3) have earned a bachelor's degree from a college or
university accredited by a regional association of colleges and schools
within the United States that reflect a baccalaureate degree. An
applicant may apply in person, by mail, or by fax.
HOW TO APPLY FOR ADMISSION
Step #1:
Obtain free copies of the University's Catalog and current Schedule
of Classes (see Contact Us on the home
page for an address or go to our online Catalog & Schedule).
The Catalog provides information relative
to institutional policies, admission, degree programs, and courses.
The Schedule of Classes, published
quarterly, provides information on classes offered in the next session,
registration materials, financial information (costs)
and copies of all forms used by students
in conducting business with the University.

of Classes or from the Forms link on
the web site) and send the completed form to Amberton University (see Contact

applicant may register for courses for any session following acceptance.
International students should review the "International
Student Admission Requirements" before applying for admission.
