I’m passionate about my faith, my family, and my life work. I love teaching and feel very blessed to be able to go full circle in my career – from teacher to school counselor to private practice counselor and back to adjunct teaching – coming full circle from where I began. I love activities with my three grandkids and stay very busy with work, school, and family. I believe in the importance of living our best lives (in whatever design that might be) and utilizing our time to make that happen.

My Unique Approach to Educations:

I believe in the importance of offering multiple ways for students to learn, including but not limited to: technology tools, synchronous options, asynchronous options, hybrid options, group learning, team-based learning, technology and writing, portfolios, including Bloom’s Taxonomy as a baseline for instruction.  Therefore, using the hybrid model, teaching with technology engages students with various kinds of stimuli involved in activity-based learning.  Technology makes the material more interesting.  It makes students and teachers more media literate.

I utilize the Instructional Conversation as a basis for all teaching methods.  It assumes that the student has something to say beyond the known answers in the head of the adult.  I believe in the importance of engaging in conversation as a teaching method which reveals the knowledge, skills, and values – the culture – of my students.  This method ensures that all students are included in the conversation according to their preferences, are listened to carefully to assess levels of students’ understanding, assisting students’ learning throughout the conversation by questioning, restating, praising, and encouraging.


I was born and raised in Pampa, Texas by my parents along with my one brother.  I met my husband in college in Canyon, Texas and we’ve been blessed with two sons and three grandchildren.  Through the years, I’ve had the opportunity to experience various types of work settings which have included:  teaching at both elementary and secondary levels, school counseling in both elementary and secondary settings, directing a college preparatory program (AVID) for my school district at the secondary level of education, contracting with school districts to provide special education services, as well as selling and appraising real estate.  I live and office in Paris, Texas and my husband and I have recently completed a total historical renovation of our downtown office building which is located on the historic “square” of Paris.  My current private practice business is located in that building.  I also enjoy teaching graduate classes in an adjunct capacity very much.   


My husband and I enjoy trips to visit our son and daughter-in-law in Oregon and we enjoy going to our grandson’s local travel baseball team events and granddaughters’ dance and sporting events as well.  We are active in our church and participate in community events when Covid is not a factor.  I often assist with a community Grief Share Program which is hosted by various churches in the community.  In addition, I lead a local monthly Book Club, which is another of my passions.
